The client, who was looking for a classical ‘vocabulary’, was introduced to the scheme; where the open space was not a solution but its longitudinal form and the consecutive rooms were emphasized and reorganized as different spatial experiences connected by it spine, the hallway.
The hallway, previously a plain corridor, is turned into a barchessa’s promenade, a loggia, while the entrance plays the role of the symmetric volume that introduces the 2 wings attached. The two edges where the bay windows are located are transformed to green galleries, where relaxing activities can take place. The classic elements such as ceiling moldings or canopy bed are translated in contemporary key features, which through their use, reveal the existing fabric of the building.
