BPO
A 280 m² office transformation in Shanghai, China
Cometa Architects renovated a BPO workspace located in a building in the centre of Shanghai, where the company is installed. The original office was highly compartmented; it is now a single open space where the meeting room, director desk and coffee area are inserted as a cassette-like volume that remains visually connected to the workspace.
The layout combines open workstations, meeting rooms, private offices, and a communal break area, all connected through a consistent use of diagonal wood cladding, black structural accents, and soft industrial lighting. All wood fixtures are made from recycled and re-treated timber, ensuring durability while reducing environmental impact. Custom furniture—ranging from conference tables to bar counters and built-in shelving—reinforces the identity of the space and extends the architectural language across every detail.
The lighting system is fully custom-made, using part of the linear fixtures already available on site and integrating new bespoke components to create a continuous suspended grid. This approach allowed both sustainability and a unique lighting atmosphere, defining the circulation and activity zones beneath it.
